Homemade ice cream just got easier and better
So I just came back from a long trip, open the fridge to take a sachet water and there was none, instead it was ice blocks everywhere. My brother commented instantly that the light has been stable this period. Immediately, the idea of ice cream just danced through my head. I instantly told him lets make ice and I decided to make it fast with less ceremony and it came out better. Believe me when I tell you that you won't forget this ice cream in a hurry. It didn't cost me more than six hundred Naira to make a litre of ice cream. Yours might be less if you have the under listed ingredients at home.
ALL YOU NEED
- Two tins of milk (I used three crown).
- 1 cup of sugar
- three medium sized eggs (separate the egg white from the york).
- vanilla extract.
- gelatine powder (for a gel - like creamier ice cream but it is optional).
- lilac food colouring ( optional).
PREPARATION
- separate the egg white from the yolks ( the egg white is really what you need). You can do this by making a small hole in the egg shell or by slightly hitting the egg with a spoon.
- If you are using gelatine powder, pour one tablespoon into five tablespoon of water, stir and let it stand for two minutes.
- pour the egg white into the blender, add half the sugar and blend for two minutes or until the mixture turns sky white (and somehow thick).
- Turn off your blender, add the milk, two tablespoon of vanilla extract and the gelatine mixture. Blend together for another another one minute.
- pour cream (obviously can't be call ice cream until it is iced) in a container with cover and put in a fridge (the freezer compartment is more preferable) for four hours undisturbed.
NOTE: For more fluffier ice cream, stir the ice cream every one hour.
This portion will serve four people.
Please your feedback will do a lot in making this blog better. Go ahead and ask questions, I will be pleased to answer in the best possible way I can.
