7 FUN TIPS ON HOW TO MANAGE YOUR TIME IN THE KITCHEN AND REDUCE KITCHEN STRESS (THE 7TH TIP WILL SURPRISE YOU).
Kitchen is one scary place for the for those who work all day and come back late. Even the fear of kitchen at times make us forfeit healthy food for junk food. I have news for you, good news at that. You can actually make the kitchen a fun place and chase away the fear of the kitchen with the following steps;
1. PLAN YOUR COOKING AHEAD: Aside from days when I just want to eat noodles and rest my case, I always plan my cooking ahead and it has helped a lot by reducing stress and fear in the kitchen. I start by deciding what to eat (this one is very important). After this, I start to draw a list of the ingredients needed for the food i decided on. I go further by getting my ingredients ready; check to know the available ingredients at home and go get the rest in the market.
2. MAKE BULKY PREPARATION AHEAD: I talked about how to shop and cook on a budget and i mentioned the fact that the best way to plan well is to buy something in full, prepare them and put them in the freezer.Let's take meat for instance, you just buy meat in large quantity, cook them and put them the refrigerator and also put the broth in another container and put it in the fridge too. That way, you already have meat at home when you need it. You can do that for fruits, vegetables and other food ingredients.
3. ALWAYS GET EVERYTHING READY BEFORE COOKING: Now I am talking about the hardwares (pots, spoons, scales e.t.c) and software (meat, vegetables and other things you want to cook). And if you are asking if it is a thing, of course it is (for me). Making sure everything is in other and ready is one big way to reduce pressure in the kitchen and cook faster.
4. ALWAYS COOK IN A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT: I don't expect this to be a debate. But, people still find it comfy to cook inside a dirty kitchen (how do they do that?). Please always learn to clean your kitchen as before cooking. It reduces kitchen hazard, gives room for fresh air and give you this inner calmness and outer healthiness.
5. CLEAN AS YOU GO: One of the most uninteresting moments in the kitchen is when you have to clean up the whole after you finish cooking. By then it will be very hard and stressful because the food is ready, you are hungry, and you can't wait right! One should inculcate the habit of cleaning as you cook your meal. dispose of liquid waste immediate, wash your chopping board and knife after using and return the spice cans and boxes to their rightful positions. By doing all these, you are not only relieving yourself of the stress of cleaning after cooking but it is also a good hygiene practice.
6. WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T COOK AND SING: Unlike restaurants and hotel kitchens where we have serious chefs working endlessly and not wanting any distraction, dear this your kitchen, own it. Play some soft music and relieve yourself of those stress while you cook. You can also put a full cup of chilled fruit juice aside when you cook (I cannot kill myself jare). Just be careful not to dance and spill you pot of soup.
7. BE CONFIDENT AND DON'T FROWN IN THE KITCHEN: I do say these words; the kitchen smells your fear. You might say it's not a thing but from experience, most of the times i failed a recipe in the kitchen were those time that I express fear in the kitchen. Being confident in the kitchen brings composure. Also, on a lighter note, smile while cooking in the kitchen. And if don't want to smile, don't frown please. Of what use this to the food i am cooking you may ask. It has nothing to do with it. It is just a thing I practice to get a good sense of craftsmanship and to also be appealing to the camera.
